The Stark Naked Brief _ @StarkNakedBri_ In case you missed it_ Channel 4 recently commissioned a study on BAME representation in UK advertising: The likely assumption; of course, was that the findings would reinforce the narrative of systemic underrepresentation: But it backfired -spectacularly: When the agency they hired, Tapestry; sent the data back to them, found that 50% of UK adverts featured black people Half of all commercials. Compared that to the percentage of black people in the UK population: just 4%, according to the 2021 census. It went on.._ People of South Asian descent make up 8% of the population but appeared in 17% of ads. East Asians make up %, yet were represented in 11% of adverts_ Maybe the media class arent wrong: We do live in a society riddled with systemic racism.
